Alison davis, San francisco & London

Alison Davis is co-founder of Fifth Era. She is an experienced corporate executive, public company board director, an active investor in growth companies and a best selling author on the topics of technology and innovation. Currently she serves on the boards of Fiserv, Ooma and RBS and Chairs the Advisory Board of Blockchain Capital. She was CFO at BGI (Blackrock), Managing Partner at Belvedere Capital, and a strategy consultant at McKinsey and A.T. Kearney. Alison has degrees from Cambridge (MA/BA) and Stanford (MBA). She was born in Sheffield, England and has lived for the last 25 years in the San Francisco Bay Area where she raised her family with her husband, Matthew C. Le Merle.

Matthew C. Le MErle, San francisco & London

Matthew Le Merle is co-founder and Managing Partner of Fifth Era and of Keiretsu Capital - the most active early stage venture investors backing almost 200 companies a year. Matthew is a manager of Blockchain Coinvestors, the world’s leading blockchain venture fund of funds. He is also Chairman of CAH and Securitize (Europe), Vice Chairman SFOX and an advisor at Warburg Pincus.

Matthew grew up in England before living most of his life in Silicon Valley where he raised his five children with his wife Alison Davis. Today he splits his time between the US and UK. By day he is an investor in technology companies and a bestselling author and speaker on innovation, investing and the future having worked at McKinsey, A.T. Kearney, Monitor, Booz and Gap. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, writing and photography. He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford and Stanford and is an adjunct professor at Singularity U.

Brian lawrence, San francisco

Brian joined Fifth Era as Chief of Staff for the Blockchain Fund of Funds, supporting strategic initiatives, investor relations, and fund management.

Prior to joining Fifth Era, Brian co-founded Ai Control Technologies, a marine technology company developing autonomous buoyancy control systems. He also co-founded The California Camping Company, an inclusive outdoor recreation management company. Brian brings to Fifth Era 10 years of experience in investment banking, asset management, and real estate experience with firms including Smith Barney, UBS and State Street Global Advisors. He was educated at Fort Lewis College and Boston University.


Klark Xia, Silicon Valley, California

Klark joined Fifth Era as a Blockchain specialist working primarily in Silicon Valley and China including Hong Kong. Klark understands how to assist clients in developing blockchain businesses and go-to-market strategies that will gain positive support in the Asian context. He maintains a number of relationships with thought leaders and investors involved in leading edge technologies within the region. His prior work experience includes managing the portfolio of videogames for Talkweb games ($1.8B Market cap publicly traded company headquartered in PRC) as their Director of Publishing.

Klark splits his time between San Francisco, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Hong Kong.


JAMES ZHANG, San Francisco

James is an experienced executive and advisor in the gaming and tech sector.  With over 20 years of experience in games and tech, James has held positions as board member, advisory board member, public company officer, and CEO where he led his company, Concept Art House, from seed financing to a rollup IPO in the UK stock exchange in 2012. 

In addition to setting the vision and tone for both Concept Art House and Spellgun, James also serves on several Advisory Boards both domestic and international including: Keiretsu Capital Blockchain, the fund of the World’s leading angel network; 1World Online, a Blockchain-powered data and advertising platform; Redemption games, a leading casual game developer; 3VEO, a mobile publishing platform for interactive mobile content; and Wistla, a social activities mobile app
