Today marks the release of the second episode of Telltale’s long-awaited Game of Thrones series, which centers on a minor house, the family Forrester, and their role in the larger universe of the series. Their story takes place embedded inside existing lore, between seasons three and four of the show, or books three and four/five, depending on your frame of reference.
One aspect of the series that continues to be fascinating into this second installment is how Telltale has to do a very precarious balancing act at all times. The challenge is to make the story of House Forrester compelling on its own merit, yet somehow fit into the larger scope of the universe, even if their tale isn’t present in the books/show. Doing this involves members of House Forrester interacting with major cast members of the show directly, which can be a double-edged sword.
